This commitment to excellence was reaffirmed in the summer of 2024 when our Commercial Director, Chris Mansfield, was elected Chair of QUALICOAT UK & Ireland. His appointment is not just a testament to his expertise but also to Tomburn’s longstanding dedication to the highest standards in commercial powder coating.
QUALICOAT is an international quality label organisation that sets and maintains standards for the powder coating of aluminium used in architectural applications. The certification ensures that coatings meet stringent durability, corrosion resistance and aesthetic requirements, giving architects, specifiers and clients confidence in the longevity of coated materials.
The QUALICOAT process involves rigorous independent assessments, including a two-step inspection and long-term corrosion testing, ensuring that accredited coaters consistently meet the highest performance standards.
Tomburn decided to incorporate the benefits of QUALICOAT accreditation in 2021. Independent assessment provided additional assurances to our customers, reinforcing our commitment to high-quality finishes. The certification process took around six months, requiring compliance with stringent testing protocols. Impressively, Tomburn passed on the first attempt with no issues – highlighting our dedication to excellence.
Chris Mansfield’s election as Chair of QUALICOAT UK & Ireland in 2024 followed his active involvement in the organisation. In this role, he chairs meetings three times a year and represents the group at key industry events such as the Surface World Show, FIT Show and Zak World of Façades. Additionally, he delivers presentations at Architect CPD sessions, spreading awareness of the importance of high-quality powder coating specifications.
Chris’s leadership in QUALICOAT aligns with Tomburn’s mission to ensure that the construction industry recognises the value of stringent powder coating standards. Speaking about his role, Chris said: “By promoting a high-quality powder coating specification across the construction industry we’re helping clients understand the importance of using accredited coaters. This not only improves the longevity and performance of coated materials but also directs work toward those who invest in maintaining these high standards.”
