The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh has been described as the finest hospital in Europe and patients not only benefit from a modern purpose-built hospital environment, but they also have access to state-of-the-art technology.
The requirement was to bring hospital departments from several sites around the City, some very old, into a new 870 bed hospital, to be built on the Greenfield site near the city centre. The huge complex took just 54 months to construct and boosts 24 operating theatres and 5000 staff. The first patients were admitted in January 2002.
Tomburn were the approved applicator for this project which was coated in a combination of PVDF and Polyester Powder.
The self-cleaning properties of PVDF were ideal for the low cleaning maintenance requirement.
